Filmvertoning + Q&A met werk van Philipp Gufler; Lana Kaiser (2020) en Projection on the Crisis (Gauweilereien in Munich) (2014).

Ter gelegenheid van de werkperiode van Philipp Gufler in de Maker Space worden eenmalig twee films van Gufler getoond in het centrum van Hilversum; Lana Kaiser (2020) en Projection on the Crisis (Gauweilereien in Munich) (2014). 

Philipp Gufler maakte beide films als onderdeel van zijn kunstpraktijk, waarin hij regelmatig onderzoek doet naar sociale en politieke thema’s als identiteit, queer en homoseksualiteit. Door het onderzoeken en tonen van verhalen die afwijken van de norm bevraagt Gufler de situaties waaronder identiteit wordt gevormd en hoe kennis daarover wordt bewaard. 

De filmvertoning vindt plaats in het Creative Image Lab, gelegen in de Gooische Brink. Aansluitend aan de vertoning zal er een mogelijkheid om in gesprek te gaan met de kunstenaar.

In de films wordt Duits en Engels gesproken en zijn Engels ondertiteld.

Lana Kaiser, 2020

In 2002, Lana Kaiser became well known in the first season of the German version of the Idol television franchise. She was born in 1985 and went by her birth name Daniel Küblböck. At only 17 years old she polarised the audience with her androgynous appearance and open bisexuality. On September 9th 2018, Lana disappeared from a cruise ship on her way to North America. Most media outlets and the majority of the public didn‘t consider calling her by her chosen name, Lana Kaiser. Philipp Gufler’s short film is a personal portrait of the singer and entertainer.

Projection on the Crisis (Gauweilereien in Munich), 2014

The short film „Projection on the Crisis (Gauweilereien in Munich)” grants a kaleidoscopic retrospect on the beginning of the AIDS crisis in Munich and Germany in the 1980s. The video transfers the spectator into a classical white cube setting, where Gufler presents documents collected from the archive Forum Queeres Archiv München e.V. in chronological order and complements them with recent works by artist friends. The posters, art works, newspapers and TV footage, which can be found partly in the accompanying artist book, are captured by a fluid camera motion and reveal a discussion about sexuality, love, morality and death quite similar to the one we have again today.
